The 2015 competition medals for the Pan Am & Parapan Am games were unveiled on March 3 in Toronto. Erin Bond brings us this report about the water theme of the Pan Am medals, with a specially prepared statement by Métis artist Christi Belcourt and an interview with activist Sakura Saunders, who wrote an article about how the creation of these metals has been detrimentally impacting water supplies in Indigenous communities. Gabrielle is, among other things, the co-founder of Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G), a youth-led organization that inspires culture and leadership among Indigenous people.
