Khurshid Begum Awan has now been living in sanctuary in a Montreal church for six months to resist a deportation back to her native Pakistan. Living in sanctuary causes Khurshid, her daughter Tahira Malik and young grandson Ali immense daily stress. Back in Pakistan, her husband is constantly risking his life as the family has experienced threats and violence. The Awan Family support committe organizes monthly pickets in their support. CKUT attended the last one on Thursday and brings you an update on the family's situation. This report aired on CKUT's news program Off the Hour on Tuesday, March 4th.
