Vikki Law on Transformative Justice

With annual events taking place such as Prisoner Justice Day on August 10th, and Prisoner Justice Week in Montreal it is clear that people want tangible alternatives to prisons, legal systems and police force.

The prison systems and criminal legal systems uphold racist, colonial, classist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, discriminatory practices that are incapable of addressing the root causes of violence. In light of this, many have been looking to models of transformative justice for new approaches to addressing violence outside of the prison and policing models.

In this interview I spoke with writer, photographer, and mother Victoria Law about transformative justice principles, challenges, and application.
