Amnesty International Film Festival

15th annual Amnesty International Film Festival in Vancouver

The 15th annual Amnesty International Film Festival is set for November 18 to 21 and features over 20 award-winning films on a wide range of human rights issues, including women’s rights, Indigenous rights, corporate accountability, war crimes and international law, security, and threats to human health, freedom of expression, and the right to food. These compelling films also take viewers on a trip around the world with stops in Burundi, North Africa, Liberia, Peru, Bolivia, Tanzania, China, Sierra Leone, Myanmar and more!

This year the festival opens with a gala featuring the Vancouver premiere of Sounds Like a Revolution, and closes with last’s year Gold Audience Award winner, the irreverent yet poignant The Yes Men Fix the World. Other highlights include the world theatrical premiere of Kamenge: Northern Quarters and  the Canadian premieres of War Don Don, The River Ran Red, Nero’s Guests, and Degrees of Incarceration. Many films will be accompanied by guest speakers and all screenings are at the Vancity Theatre, 1181 Seymour Street, Vancouver. General admission is just $9; matinees, students and seniors are only $7. Passes and advance tickets are available at www.ticketstonight.ca.
