Sept 27 is the second global day of youth-led Climate Strike actions, after the first on Sept 20, in the context of the ongoing Fridays for Future student actions.

Ottawa, Rouyn-Noranda, Mont Laurier, and Montreal are among the places with Sept 27 actions.

In Montreal, famed Swedish youth Greta Thunberg will be co-leading the march along with fifteen Indigenous youth, including two Algonquins - Janet Hervieux from Pikogan and Kajitaï-Alexandra Cheezo from Lac-Simon - and one Cree (Eeyou), Sigwan Polson, who lives in the Pikogan community.

In Ottawa, three Algonquins are planned to be among the speakers: Monique Monatch (Barriere Lake) to do the opening welcome, Dara Wawatie-Chabot (Barriere Lake / Kitigan Zibi) as a youth voice, and the new Ottawa Riverkeeper, Elizabeth Logue (Kitigan Zibi).

Oct 8: In Our Tongues launch event
Ottawa’s first Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPoC) reading and art series, bi-weekly Tuesday evenings 7-9pm at Origin Arts & Community Centre, 57 Lyndale Avenue.
Oct 8th features Albert Dumont, Amanda Lowe, Fatima Zahra.
