We Are the Media Co-op! Some of the members who make the co-op strong

Our members are what make us strong!

Over 500 people are members of the Media Co-op, across Canada and around the world. From readers, to contributors to editors, it is the people of the co-op who power our work and make the co-op what it is: a fresh, in-depth, community-driven source of news and views from across the country.

But the co-op is a growing family, with always more room if you'd like to join us!

The vast majority of our members are readers: the people who view, interact with, share and fund the work we do at the co-op. By becoming a reader member, your financial support goes to help building the co-op both locally and nationally, covering the cost of producing articles and videos, providing workshops and skillshares, publishing our magazine The Dominion and lots more. You also become a voting member of the co-op, able to participate in our Annual General Meeting to set policy and elect board members, and take part in consultations on the future of the co-op. Contributor members are those who provide the bulk of the content you read, watch and listen to on mediacoop.ca and dominionpaper.ca. Contributors become members after having 2 pieces published within one year in The Dominion, or having four pieces featured within the past year on mediacoop.ca. Contributor members can also vote at AGMs, and are given priority when we allot funding for contributions. Click here to find out more about becoming a contributor member.

Editor members are the staff and volunteers who work in the background, keeping the co-op purring along. They edit, moderate, fundraise and take care of administrative and logistical work. They are also voting members. If you're interested in volunteering your time or getting more involved, just contact us and we'll help find a way for you to plug in.
