Algonquin language resources (Anishinaabemowin)
[From the Algonquin AAMP e-newsletter]
Kwey,
This email is especially for educators and those in educational institutions
- but also for anyone learning or interested in the Algonquin language:
* First, the four 'Algonquin Word of the Day' #AWOTD posters (11"x17") illustrated by Jay Odjick, are available until the end of March at $5 off each print (so, discount price = $10), using the checkout code MARCHMADNESS:
https://jayodjickshop.com/
He writes on Twitter @JayOdjick, "I'm running the March Madness sale at the shop to give educators a chance to get some Algonquin into their classrooms at the most affordable rate I can. If you know of any teachers or librarians who may be interested, please pass it on!"
* Second, Algonquin language (Anishinabemowin) dictionaries are available for $25 from the AANTC (Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council):
http://www.anishinabenation.ca/en/contact/
The dictionary has the words of seven Algonquin dialects: Kitigan Zibi, Pikogan (Amos), Barriere Lake, Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Long Point and Timiskaming First Nation - but was unable to get the Pikwàkanagàn and Wahgoshig dialects.
* Third, daily audio Algonquin language lessons are broadcast on CKWE 103.9FM in KZ/Maniwaki and also online at www.ckwe1039.fm
Monday-Friday, for approx 15min between 5:30-6:00pm
They use lessons from the dictionary mentioned above in Kitigan Zibi dialect.
Some of the audio lessons are available on the CKWE SoundCloud account: https://soundcloud.com/kv9tzr2nqzy1
* Fourth, listen/watch to Cory Whiteduck aka Cory Chorus from CKWE, talk about the radio language lessons and also #AWOTD in these two short videos on twitter:
