M-312 Could Threaten Women's Access to Abortion

On September 21st, Motion 312 was debated in the House of Commons in Ottawa. Brought forward by Conservative MP Stephen Woodsworth of the Kitchener-Centre riding in Ontario, the motion proposes to strike a parliamentary committee to examine Canada's legal definition of a human being. Feminist groups across the country quickly mobilized to denounce this motion as yet another attack against women's right to choose. In Montreal, a street-theatre action was organized by the Fédération des femmes du Québec and the Fédération du Québec pour le planning des naissances. CUTV was there to speak with some of the organizers about the importance of this motion for the pro-choice movement.
