While the Drummond Report has not yet been released there is much talk about what it contains and warnings and rumors that we will be experiencing painful cuts to health care, education, and social services. This will of course have a significant impact on the services we deliver in community and likely will impact those who already suffer from the inequities of a system that is so unbalanced.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) along with the Public Services Foundation of Canada (PSFC) are hosting a Commission on Quality Public Services and Tax Fairness and are holding public input sessions.

They will be in Sudbury on February 9 and will provide an opportunity for all citizens to make submissions, through.

1.  Public Hearings:  these take the form of community, provincial or national experts making deputations on studies and experiences involving the value of public services and ways to achieve tax fairness. Hearings are open to the public and media. This opportunity will happen from 1- 4 p.m.

2.  Town Hall Forum:  Town Hall forums are open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend and be heard about their experiences of public services as a service provider or service user. This opportunity will happen between 7-9 p.m.

Both events will happen at the new Steelworkers hall.
