Idle No More Day of Action - Unceded Coast Salish Territory

More than 150 people congregated at the Vancouver Art Gallery this afternoon, joining thousands across the continent in the Idle No More  protest against Conservative government policies.

The protesters also voiced continued support for Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence on Day 12 of her hunger strike.

Idle No More was launched as a grassroots, Aboriginal-led protest against the federal government’s Bill C-45, which trashes land treaties and weakens environmental laws.

``Idle No More calls on all people to join in a revolution which honors and fulfills Indigenous sovereignty which protects the land and water. Colonization continues through attacks to Indigenous rights and damage to the land and water. We must repair these violations, live the spirit and intent of the treaty relationship, work towards justice in action, and protect Mother Earth.``
