Algonquin Nation protest / occupation at 100 Wellington St Ottawa

AANTC Grand Chief Verna Polson and others are camped out in a wigwam indefinitely, as of Wednesday evening. It is to secure equal treatment / partnership in the Indigenous 'Embassy' space in the former US Embassy building directly across from Parliament. 

Supporters are encouraged to visit!

National Indigenous Day Events:

June 20-23: Ottawa Summer Solstice Festival
at Vincent Massey Park, Ottawa.
Includes (along with many other activities as well):
* June 20 6:30pm: Simon Brascoupé - Algonquin Paint nite on canvas ($25, register in advance online)
* June 21 12noon: Artists Lunch and Talk, with Emily Brascoupé-Hoefler, Simon Brascoupé, Heather Campbell, Jaime Morse ($20, register in advance online)
* June 21 1:30pm: Albert Dumont poetry
* June 21 3:30pm + 5:00pm: Algonquin Language Bingo
* June 22 7:00pm: Lyle Odjick and the Northern Steam
* June 23: Algonquin Language Colouring Contest - win great prizes for all ages!
* June 23: Language Arts Community Mural Project - Paint an animal mural with Heather Campbell, Jaime Morse, Emily Brascoupé and learn Inuit, Metis and Algonquin animal names

June 21 - National Indigenous Day

Fort Tèmiscamingue: Pow-wow Noon-8:00pm, Timiskaming FN host

Kinawit: 1:00pm-6:00pm with shuttle from Val d'Or NFC

Maniwaki: Anishinabe Kijigon Solidarity Parade, Noon, NFC

* Park Phillippe Barette all day, Wolf Lake FN host
* Red Dress event (MMIWG) 9am-5pm, Musée de la Gare
