Another reminder that nation-state borders are an artificial construct

East Palestine OH, to Canada : Air dispersal models locate the train fallout traveling north of the border, and in Ontario, people and pets are experiencing health impacts, and there's evidence on cars and in snow and even out in the middle of Lake Erie.

This short video documents some of what is happening, while Global News headline declares "Ohio derailed train chemical cloud 'highly unlikely' to impact Canada" and CBC also says "highly unlikely."

The life of non-status people is a challenge every day. We fight to live in dignity, to have a place to live, to eat, and to work.

Without a work permit, it is very difficult to find a job. And if we succeed in finding one, we are often exploited and not even paid the minimum wage. This economic exploitation is taken for granted by the authorities.

Dale Culver, a 35-year-old Wet’suwet’en and Gitxsan man and father of three children, was killed by RCMP officers during a brutal arrest on the night of July 18, 2017, in Prince George, British Columbia.  On February 1, 2023, almost six years later, the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced that manslaughter charges have been approved against two of the Prince George RCMP officers responsible.

At least four people had their lives taken in police actions in January 2023. This includes people who police actively killed, as in a police shooting, or who died through various police actions. In 2022 there were at least 117 police-involved deaths.

In January 2023, one person was shot and killed by Prince Albert (Saskatchewan) police. Two people in crisis died in falls during police actions. One person died with police present.

Junior Cadougan had to leave Toronto’s Jane and Finch neighbourhood after his brother was shot five times. Cadougan left ‘The Lanes’ at 15 years old to pursue his hoop dreams in the United States, where he prospered in an era before Canada was known for basketball. He earned a Division 1 scholarship to Marquette University and had a nine-year pro basketball career.
